What you type

Your typing is processed entirely in your browser. The text you type, your speed and your accuracy are never sent to our servers or anyone else.

Stored in your browser

Keyin.io saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage so they're still there next time: your theme, key sound, practice mode and length, and a count of finished runs used to decide when to show a small support message. This data stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your browser and device type, your approximate location (country or city), and the site that referred you. We use this only in aggregate, to improve the site.

We also send Google Analytics a short summary when you start, finish, skip or retry a practice run: which page and mode you practiced in, the book it came from, its length, and for finished runs your speed, accuracy and time. What you type is never sent.

Advertising

Keyin.io is free and may show ads served by Google AdSense to cover its costs.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The typing practice works without them.
• Use the opt-out links above for Google Analytics and personalized ads.
• If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent before cookies are used for personalized ads, and you can change your choice at any time.

Feedback

The feedback link opens a form on Google Forms. Your answers, and your email address if you choose to give it, are stored by Google and used only to improve Keyin.io. Google's privacy policy applies to the form.

Other sites

Keyin.io links to other sites, such as Project Gutenberg, Ko-fi and Google Forms. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

Children

Keyin.io is a general audience site. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
